In July 2000 Martello invested in a state of the art 4 axis high speed machining centre. Combining this with Work NC software we are able to CNC machine direct from IGS or STL data. With spindle speeds up to 40,000 RPM we can machine plastics and soft alloys with cutters from 0.5mm to 10mm. The portal design offers a maximum machining area of approximately 600mm x 500 mm.

Following its installation the machining centre has been put to good use machining small batches of prototypes as well as master parts.

The CNC machine is also used regularly to produce master patterns in modelling board for both silicone rubber moulds and sandcasting.
